Starting X

Two cards didn't make it to the first benchmark. The Oxygen GMX2000 would allow X to start, but glxinfo always showed "direct rendering: No". The Radeon 8500 using ATI's FGLRX drivers would allow X to load, showed "direct rendering: Yes", but would lock up a few seconds after an OpenGL application was launched.

glxgears:

Ran for 1 minute then recorded the highest score.

Notes:

Surprisingly, indirect rendering beat three video cards. This was the only benchmark that the Rage Pro Turbo survived, but the score seems unbelieveably low. The mach64 driver seem to have major problems at the moment, though it might just be a bad video card.

Quake 2:

Used "glx OpenGL" driver with default options. s_initsound 0, snd_restart, timedemo 1, map demo1.dm2. Ran each resolution 2x and recorded the highest score.

Notes:

The Speedstar a90 did survive Quake2 at 640x480, but would crash at other resolutions.

Quake 3:

Used s_initsound 0, snd_restart, timedemo 1, demo four. Set r_ext_compressed_textures to 0 in q3config.cfg. Ran each resolution 2x and recorded the highest score.

Notes:

The Speedstar a90 made it through 640x480 and crashed on the higher resolutions again. The Rage 128 crashed on 1024x768.
